3D Printing

3D printing builds objects layer by layer from a digital design—adding material instead of cutting it away.

A printer melts plastic filament or cures liquid resin, stacking thin layers until a solid part appears. That makes complex shapes, hollow interiors, and quick prototypes far easier than carving or molding by hand.

Makers use it for prototypes, replacement parts, jigs, props, and custom gadgets—anything that starts as a 3D model and needs to exist in the real world.

At Rochester Makerspace, members can use filament and resin printers after any required training.
